It looked pretty damaged by the pole; he can just imagine the chief yelling about the expense. At least the chief won't threaten to fire him again, not when Mr. Edgeworth apparently urged for him to be reinstated. Still, Gumshoe's delight at the thought of Mr. Edgeworth's support is squelched by the fact that getting a replacement car will take a while. He'll have to use the bus. Well, he thinks sadly, there goes all his noodle money.
After the trial, Gumshoe realizes that his car is totaled and he has no way to get home. Powers offers to let him share his hotel room. Things don't exactly go as planned, but Gumshoe's not complaining.</blockquote>
